Come to an audition! They're held in the spring. Flyers are distributed in schools and in the community. Children are asked to echo simple note patterns and sing a familiar song.

Who can sing in the Chorus?
The Chorus is open to all Springfield children in Grades 3 through 8.

When are auditions?
Auditions are held in the spring at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave. To register for an audition, call 413-782-2224.

Does it cost anything to join?
In keeping with the Chorus's goal of uniting children through music, family contributions are currently a modest $50 per season. Families can pay the fees on a schedule that works for them, and financial assistance is available. The contribution covers the cost of rehearsal materials. The remainder of the actual $500 cost per singer is raised through individual donations and grants.

Who leads the Chorus?
Chorus co-founder Dr. E. Wayne Abercrombie, an accomplished musician with extensive training and experience, is the Artistic Director and Conductor. Assistant Conductors art Kayla Werlin and Lee Hagon. Rehearsal volunteers (trained musicians with an interest and experience in working with children) and interns (high school students with strong music skills) are also part of the rehearsal team.

Is there a dress code?
Rehearsals: Singers can wear their regular school or leisure clothes.
Performances: Boys - black shoes/socks, black pants, white shirt, red tie
Girls - black shoes, black pants or skirt, long-sleeved red top

When and where are rehearsals?
WHERE:
The Chorus rehearses at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Avenue. The church donates rehearsal and performance space along with resources.
WHEN:
Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 pm during the school year. There is no rehearsal when public schools are closed for vacations or holidays.
